Nashville shooter who killed 6 drew maps, surveilled school

On March 28, 2023, a 28-year-old individual named Audrey Hale, who identified as male, planned and carried out a shooting at The Covenant School, a private Christian academy in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to the shooting, Hale messaged a friend, saying that "one day this will make more sense" and that they had left "more than enough evidence behind". Police have indicated that they are investigating whether gender was a motive for the attack. Hale left behind a manifesto, a detailed map of the school, and conducted surveillance of the building before carrying out the shooting, which resulted in the deaths of three students and three staff members. The shooting has devastated the community and has drawn attention to the continuing problem of gun violence in the United States.
