ISG provides expertise to review and evaluate existing policies and procedures in light of the laws and regulations relevant to each client’s circumstance, as well as our experience and the best practices in each industry. Moreover, we also offer policy development from the ground up should the existing framework prove inadequate. Our process aims to identify areas for improvement, update the policies to reflect current best practices, and ensure they are aligned with the organization's mission, objectives, and values.

Various laws and government agencies that can come into play when addressing workplace violence. These can vary depending on your location and industry. At a minimum, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will likely be involved. The Occupational Safety and Health Act requires employers to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all covered workers. Employers who do not take reasonable steps to prevent or abate a recognized violence hazard in the workplace can be cited and fined, or held liable should an incident occur. How OSHA determines “reasonable” steps is subjective and determined on a case-by-case basis. Your company may already be required to have an Incident Action Plan (IAP). Many legal experts strongly recommend that your plan include, among other things, how to handle active shooter situations.
