Indiana FedEx mass shooting victims, families file lawsuit against gun magazine distributor
Survivors and families of victims of the 2021 mass shooting at an Indianapolis FedEx facility have filed a lawsuit against American Tactical, the distributor of the high-capacity magazine used in the shooting that left eight people dead. The lawsuit alleges that American Tactical intentionally marketed the magazines to young men at risk for violent behavior and failed to prevent dangerous people from purchasing them. The complaint argues that the company had a clear duty to take reasonable steps to prevent dangerous individuals from acquiring their product and failed to implement any protocols or safeguards. Gunmakers have been granted immunity and exempted from lawsuits over crimes committed with firearms under federal law, but survivors and families of victims are increasingly trying to hold the industry accountable.
